There only exist two types of public transport in Los Cristianos and both are by road. The bus, known locally as Guagua and taxi. The taxi service athough run by private companies is well controlled by the local authorities.

The most used public transport in Los Cristianos is the bus. The tourists use the buses a lot. The name that the locals give the bus is ?guagua?; which is also what it is called in many Latin American places. Titsa is the bus company that covers the entire island with its bus routes.
The good news is that the Los Cristianos bus stop is the island?s main Exchange point outside of the capital, Santa Cruz.
Titsa sells a ?bonobus?, that is a pre-paid card of 12 or 30 Euros, that when used to pay for a bus trip gives you a discount. You can read more about this card on the page ?How to get here by bus?. The most used bus is the number 110, which is the line that comes straight to Los Cristianos from Santa Cruz, with no stops on the way.
As far as taxis, the service is controlled by the Arona municipality. There is no other taxi company in Los Cristianos. The taxi drivers wear a uniform with a blue shirt and black trousers. The taxis are white and clearly identified. Fees aren?t too expensive and they always use a meter. There are supplements at night time or for going to the airport. The taxi service in Los Cristianos is very reliable and for short trips can be really reasonable, even if more expensive than the bus. For example, a trip between Los Cristianos and Las Américas shouldn?t cost you more than 5 Euros at daytime. If you are travelling in a group it can even work out cheaper than a bus for short trips.
The public buses that are run in Los Cristianos by Titsa are very good, they tend to be punctual and clean as well as having air conditioning. He only thing that is hard to understand at the beginning is how to read the time table. For example, the number 111, that travels between Los Cristianos and Santa Cruz, with stops on the way. If we read the timetable it will tell us the time that it leaves Los Cristianos and how long the trip will take. That is perfect is we want to catch the bus in Los Cristianos, but if we want to board somewhere along the route we have to do some guess work. We need to calculate the time the bus leaves, and then add on the time it should take for the bus to get to our stop, and then get to the stop at the time we estimate it will arrive.
Generally this is not a problem with the bus route we have chosen as an example, as the buses leave every half an hour, so that is the most we will ever have to wait. But other routes like the 470 leave every hour, so it can be very frustrating not knowing when to get to the stop because we don?t know what time the bus will pass by. The only thing we do know is that the most we will have to wait is an hour?
That said; if you are going to stay in an apartment, apart-hotel or hotel in los Cristianos that you have booked with Costasur and plan to use public transport while in Los Cristianos, you will always start your trip from here, therefore you will know what time the buses leave. But if you are going to get off and on again somewhere else then you will need to start working out times.
Interesting information about public transport in Los Cristianos.
